If you are a groundskeeper, you’re under a lot of pressure to get the most out of every patch of grass. Rest assured, we have exactly what you need.
The Importance of Soil Conditioning
If soil is ‘conditioned’, it contains high quantities of the nutrients that grass needs. With this as fuel, grass can grow strong roots that allow it to withstand harsh weather and the general wear and tear that grounds experience during a busy season of sport and activity.
Soil conditioners are not the same as fertilisers. The latter feeds the crop directly, whereas soil conditioners, as the name suggests, improves the quality of the soil itself. It can therefore hold more moisture and is full of nutrients and helpful microorganisms.
Most importantly, a quality soil conditioner helps with the treatment of worm casts. The moisture content encourages the worms to dig deeper into the soil, so their activity in dry weather won’t ruin the look of your grounds.
Where to use Soil Conditioners
Soil conditioners are mainly beneficial for grounds, especially on grass that hosts sporting events, such as football and rugby grounds or cricket pitches.
These grounds are often overly treated with fertilisers, which benefits grass growth, but negatively affects the soil itself. Compaction and pH imbalance can also ruin soil and the grass growth; maintaining the health of the soil is imperative for any groundskeeper or club owner.
Our conditioners work alongside fertilisers and other grass treatments, promoting healthy growth for long periods of time, regardless of what they grass goes through.
The Different Types of Soil Conditioners
We supply a few different soil conditioner products, and even experienced groundskeepers may not know which is right for their soil.
So here’s a brief breakdown of the benefits of each type:
Purity Organic Soil Conditioner – Made from tea plant extracts, this purifies and improves soil health, preparing gardens and grounds before spring growth or autumn/winter shutdown.
Vitax Enhance C Soil Conditioner – One of the best soil conditioners for plant health. This contains a blend of slow-release nutrients that boosts plant health, reduces turf stress, and helps with the treatment of worm casts.
Calcified Seaweed Soil Conditioner – This can be used during any season, and works to break down heavy soil and encourages the development of microorganisms that can improve the health of the soil, which in turn leads to better root systems.
All Season Kieserite Fertiliser – This contains kieserite and 16% magnesium, and is therefore ideal for grounds or gardens that are deficient in magnesium.
Granular Lime Treatment – Another easy-to-spread treatment that gives you professional results without the need for expensive equipment.
Maxicrop Triple Liquid Seaweed – Liquid fertilisers aren’t always the best solution, as they can be tricky to use correctly, but they reinvigorate soil with moisture and fresh nutrients that promote soil health and plant growth.
